Alphagan (Generic Brimonidine Tartrate)
Brimonidine tartrate, commonly known as Alphagan P is a drug used to treat high fluid in eyes or open-angle glaucoma. A high fluid pressure in the eye can cause nerve damage, vision loss or even blindness. This medicine reduces pressure by enhancing fluid drainage in the eye and also by reducing fluid formation in the eye.
Usage of brimonidine tartrate solution
Wash your hands before applying for Brimonidine tartrate. Don't touch the tip of the dropper or allow it to touch your eye or any surface since it can cause contamination. Those that use contact lenses should put on their lenses 15 minutes after applying this medication. This is because brimonidine contains benzalkonium chloride which can cause eye irritation.
Look upward and make a pouch by pulling down the lower eyelid. Hold the dropper over the eye and let the medicine drop directly to the eye. Look down and close your eyes gently for 2 minutes.
